Lingering Death

(77 words, 25 lines)

My soul is broken

Cared for no longer

By those once loved

Shattered to pieces

On the floor

Silent ache

Of horrid memory

Soulmate so dear

Keeps death

Knocking at my door

Silent tears

Run down my cheek

Unbidden and unwelcome

Inviting death

Into my home

Sharp edges

Surrounding me

Whispering in my ears

Ask death

To take me away

Thinnest slice

On alabaster skin

Brings death closer

Task complete

He walks out my door
