Ok, all you NaNoites…it’s now five days until NaNoWriMo. Have you been doing OctPreP? Or have you just be preparing on your own? Do you have the story you want to start writing on? Or are you still scrambling to figure out what you want to start writing?
I must admit this year I’m a bit less prepared than I was last year. Last year I’d been working on the OctPrep with my WDC folks on my story and it had helped prepare me to write my story.
This year, however, I’ve been lax in many aspects of my writing. You see, I’m Bi-Polar and have Fibromyalgia, arthritis and a few other ailments. And I let that aspect of my life drag me down and my writing and artwork suffered this year. I barely wrote anything, not even any poetry; which is unusual for me because I often take up the challenge of NaPoWriMo in April. This year I didn’t do so well.
But I digress. I’m here with new fervor, a new lease on my life of writing and I begin this year’s NaNo with ensuring my Fantasy Story is the best it can be. I’m also here to encourage all you other “NaNoites” to follow along, post replies to each of my posts here in my “NaNo” header, and/or post about how you’re doing in your search of 50,000 words for your story.
My own story I plan for a serial type novel(s). The first book would be: “Bio of an Elfin Dragon: Knowledge of Wisdom”. Then of course sequels would be titled thusly…”Bio of an Elfin Dragon:……” Why sequels? Because the main character is a shape-shifting elf. Mother is an elf, father a dragon; thus giving her a very long life. She is banished from her home with elves to live among humans and that is her story. A series of adventures, friendships, learning to live with her duty (though still outcast), and a myriad of other things.
So, tell me…..
- What do you plan to write about?
- Do you have a place set up to write?
- Do you have a planned time to write?
- Are you planning to write away from home, with others, alone?
- Are you planning to avail yourself of what the NaNoWriMo site offers in help?
Good luck, everyone, in your endeavors this year to write your story. I hope we all attain our goals.
